telephone...
What is it?
This unique, new service allows you to connect to the web using just your
touch-tone telephone! Once connected, you can do many of the things that you might
do if you were using your computer: check
e-mail, weather, news, stock quotes, etc. -- even access web sites that you specify! (some
limitations apply as noted below).
It works with any touch-tone telephone, including cellular phones.
Unlike other remote Internet access products and services, there are no other requirements
such as PDAs, specially-equipped cell phones, modems, sound cards, etc. Now to
access the web, you don't even need to own a computer! All you need is a touch-tone
phone, a PIN (personal identification number) and your "in".
Imagine being able to check your e-mail or access the web anytime you
like, whether you find yourself near a computer or not.
In your car on your way to an important appointment...
During a break at meeting or conference...
Waiting at the airport or at a hotel lobby...
On a plane, boat, wherever.
How does it work?
Web and e-mail information are "read" to you using the most
advanced, best quality Text-To-Speech technology available today. Even though most
sites on the web are graphical in nature, you may be surprised to discover just how much
useful information you will hear, even on web sites full of pictures. The more the
site conforms to "universal accessibility" guidelines (visit http://www.w3c.org/wai for more info), the easier the
site will be to understand and navigate.
Information is entered into the system using your standard touch-tone
telephone keypad as a "keyboard" capable of entering digits, letters and special
characters. Easy to understand, step-by-step instructions are e-mailed to you along
with your PIN and also available at any time from the system itself.

If your mail-provider is not on this list, just ask us and we'll check to see if they're
compatible.
When accessing the web, you may select links to popular sites or enter the
"URL" of any site on the Internet and then "bookmark" the selection
for rapid access at a later time.
OK, let's be real. This service is not intended for extensive web
'surfing' and will not replace your current Internet service. However, it will prove
very useful when you just want to check your e-mail or specific information from the web.
To speed access, we have provided a "quick links" menu to the most
commonly used types of information allowing one-button access to news, weather, stock
quotes -- even the exact time from the Naval Atomic Clock. More are being added all
the time based upon your feedback.
Other Benefits:
Besides, freedom from you're computer, modem and phone line, there is the
added benefit of being able to easily check multiple e-mail accounts. If you have
more than one e-mail account, you know the hassle of checking them all at home, much less
from the road. Are you tired of changing your mail client's "server" options for
different e-mail accounts? All you do is setup each account on a different PIN and
"voila", you can check each e-mail account without re-entering any setup
information.
The system works with your existing e-mail account (see note below) unlike other systems
that require you to sign up with another ISP or obtain a special account in order to
provide telephone access. E-mail is accessed directly from the your mail server
exactly when you request it. All information, e-mail or web is retrieved and
presented in real-time, never cached or pre-recorded which may cause you to miss a
message.
Because we respect your privacy, you have the choice of either entering your e-mail
account information using a secure server or entering them directly using your touch-tone
phone. You also may choose to store this information with your account (PIN) so you
do not have to enter it each time or to not have it stored at all.
The service is economical too. On average it takes, less than 30 seconds to
determine if you have e-mail (which could save you a trip home to check it) and only a
minute or so to check an e-mail message of 100 words or less. For less than the
price of a cup of coffee (even the plain kind) you can check your e-mail from the road. As
if that wasn't enough, you are not charged for account setup time or the time it takes to
connect to a web site. The clock stops during these operations so you only pay for
the time spent actually using the system.
How much does the service cost?
There is a $5 one-time setup fee and then only 39 cents per minute.
You may order as many minutes as you like, there is no minimum. After you order you
will be given a PIN (a unique personal identification number) and you simply call the 800
number and use your PIN to access the internet and/or your mailbox(es). We can
pre-configure the system to access your mailbox, or we will send you instructions on how
to do that yourself.
Please Note: As long
as your mail server is POP3-compliant and accessible via the Internet and is not
protected by a firewall it can be accessed using this service. Currently, access to
America Online, CompuServe and AT&T WorldNet mail servers is prevented due to firewall
restrictions.
The vast majority of web content is supported, except that which is highly graphical
and/or procedural such as some forms, "frames" and JavaScript. We plan to
support these in the near future. Most sites use some version of HyperText Markup
Language HTML (which we support) or may provide a "non-frames" or non-JavaScript
option.
